MOORLAND GARDEN HOTEL RESTAURANT VOTED BEST IN THE SOUTH WEST


The Wildflower restaurant at The Moorland Garden Hotel near Yelverton in Devon has been crowned Best South West Restaurant in the Taste of the West Awards 2013. Accepting the award, general manager Andrew Jenkins said: “This has been an amazing year for us. Bruce has only been on board since April and so for us to be named Best Restaurant just six months later is a dream come true. A lot of establishments pay lip service to serving local food these days but Bruce is an amazing ambassador for the West Country, championing producers and doing his utmost to ensure diners are engaged with the whole food experience.”


CHEFS’ FORUM SUPPORTS CHARITY


The South West’s Chefs’ Forum has shown its ongoing support for industry charity Hospitality Action with a celebratory lunch cooked by Michelin starred chefs. Guests were treated to a feast cooked by Sam Moody (The Bath Priory), Martin Blunos (TV Chef & Seaham Hall), Richard Davies (The Manor House Hotel, Castle Combe), Josh Eggleton (The Pony & Trap, Chew Magna), Russell Brown (Sienna, Dorset) and Paul Ainsworth (No. 6, Padstow) and proceeds will help workers in the hospitality industry that fall on hard times.


EXCELLENCE ALL ROUND FOR HARTS OF STUR


Family run cookware specialists Harts of Stur in Sturminster Newton have picked up two awards in the National Excellence in Housewares Awards 2013. The website won the Excellence in Direct Retailing award for the second year running. Managing Director Philip Hart commented: “I am absolutely delighted to win for the second year running, and it was a very proud moment to collect the award on behalf of the whole of the Harts of Stur team, who have worked so hard to make this achievement possible.”
