Green tea and Vitamin By guest writer Seamus Seanachaoi

Sonoma, CA. ~ As a young child, I loved trains so much that I wanted to build a mina- ture railroad on our two acre property. Being a child, I didn't have the resources to do so, and looking back, two acres would definitely not have been enough to build it in. Another gentleman, by the name of Stanley Frank, had the same dream. Being a successful owner of a printing service in Oakland, and also being quite a master modeler strarted doing just that. The end result is Traintown, located in Sonoma, California. Traintown first opened its doors to the public in September 1968 and has been operating, and improv- ing ever scince. Sadly, Stanely Frank left us at the age of 62 in 1977. However is family (and followers of his dream) contin- ue to build on the cornerstones that Stanley left behind. This magical place offers a 20 minute train ride through the 500,000 sq. ft. park. The train travels through a variety of tunnels and bridges through a forestlike setting, going past

a multitude of minatures and making a stop in Lakeview (a minature town with west- ern period design and petting zoo where you can feed the animals). In addition to the trainride, Traintown offers a variety of other rides (all with a

railroad theme) designed to please all. It also recently opened a gift shop that offers train themed souvineers and clothing to the railroad enthu- siast.

Needless to say, I was so enthralled with this wonder- ful place that I took camera in hand and spent five Sundays filming a special video entitled A MAGICAL TRAINRIDE THROUGH TRAINTOWN. It can be seen on youtube. com. But, I highly recommend paying a visit to Traintown. It is definitely worth it. They are currently open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and is not hard to find. The are locat- ed south of the main square of Sonoma on Broadway. As you go south it will be about three lights down on the left. I hope to see you there. All aboard!

C to boost the immune sys- tem, Echinacea and zinc, tinc- tures and herbal teas, and on and on. Everyone seems to have their favorite approach to prevent and treat the com- mon cold. But do they work? It turns out

that, once you have a cold, only two treat- ments have been shown to decrease the duration or sever- ity of a cold. Herbal and green teas have no impact at all. Ginger, Echinacea, vitamin C, Zinc, Airborne—no affect.

tea. No

herbal tincture. In her book “Ah, Choo! The uncommon life of your common cold”, Jennifer Ackerman summa- rized thousands of studies of vitamin, mineral, herbal, and other traditional treatments of the common cold. The only treat- ments

shown

to decrease the duration and severity of a cold are—ready?— home-made

chicken soup,

and empathy. But a num- ber of tradition- al remedies do show benefits

to boost the immune system. Maybe a stronger immune sys- tem will lessen the impact of a cold. Sorry to say, there’s a good chance this approach may be counter productive.

"Tuesday," replies the second man. The doctor shakes his head sadly, then asks the third man, "Okay, your turn. What's three times three?"

"Nine," says the third man.

"That's great!" says the doctor. "How did you get that?"

"Simple," he says, "just subtract 274 from Tuesday."

"274," came the reply. The doctor rolls his eyes and looks up at the
