But times change and so does
Santa Rosa, CA. ~ I first met Carol Divodi in mid spring 2013, next door at the Big Boys Buns & Burgers Classic Car Show held every Friday night in the Larkfield Shopping Center in northern Santa Rosa. After being intro- duced by George Fiori, Carol says, you guys should do a story on our store, there's a real upbeat story there. It also turns out Andy Divodi(Carol's husband), was in the newspa- per business also which gave

October and found them to be hospitable, friendly and great to talk to. As the owners of the Final Edition Bar and Grill it makes a perfect match! Their whole philosophy on running their business is one I truly believe makes a business thrive, and that
is: 'treating
people like they are guests in your own home'. As Andy says to me, 'It's that simple. And, of course you have to

ownership. About 7 years ago, Andy and Carol heard the bar was up for sale and never looked back. But first, a bit of history about how Andy and Carol got their start. Carol was gracious in sending me a short time line: "It all began in 1962 when Andy Divodi Sr. who worked for the News Call Bulletin and Andy Divodi Jr. worked for the San Francisco Examiner decided to buy a cocktail lounge" Carol says. An opportunity arose when a bar named Del’s went up for sale. It was located on the corners of Geneva Ave. & Mission St. in San Francisco. Andy Sr. knew that he couldn’t work for the newspaper any- more for health reasons so they both discussed the pur- chase of Del’s and the adven- ture began. They decided to name it the First Edition as it was a fitting name because they had both worked for newspaper companies. They hired a chef by the name of Ed Mahan a.k.a. Fat Ed. The First Edition became notorious for their steak eat- ing contests. If you could eat a 64oz. Sirloin steak it was on the house.
It was a great

ing it the First Edition. After 13 years of great fun and awesome new friendships they retired again. Ten years went by and get- ting antsy they decided to pur- chase a cocktail lounge in the Larkfield Shopping Center. After long discussion Carol said this will be the “Final Edition”. Carol says, "So here we are, wonderful staff, great customers, and new friends. We have so much fun mak- ing people happy that’s all we care about. Thanks to all of you who have helped us be successful in our new endeavor." Even though the bar and Grill is for patrons 21 and over Carol and Andy make pretty much all their food from scratch and rave about their cook and how fast service is. They wanted the Upbeat Times readers to know that if they ever want a quick lunch, this is the perfect
spot...plus, the food is great! Tell them you saw them in the Upbeat Times...
