o doubt we could all do with a little more simplicity in our lives. In a world where we are trying to fit more and more in to each day who would reject the idea of a straightforward and hassle free option of a one-piece pool? Customers would welcome the simple life too. Maybe they want to treat themselves to a pool and all the wellness and relaxation benefits that accompanies one but the imagined hassle that having a swimming pool installed can be easily rectified by offering a one-piece pool. Simplicity itself.

John Whiteside, Certikin’s One-Piece Pool Manager: “People like the feel of the fibreglass shell as the lines are sleek and smooth and feel almost warm to the touch. It’s a different experience to swimming in a liner or tiled pool and one that should be tried to understand the quality feel before deciding on another route. On top of this a good quality fibreglass shell will be more understanding to water quality issues than a concrete tiled shell or liner pool. Water quality may dull the top surface of fibreglass but this is easily polished up as good as new, even ten years down the line.”

He continues: “The one-piece pool market has slowed in the UK over the last couple of years, although the start of 2013 has been very promising. We have quoted more promising enquiries for one-piece pools in the first two months of this year than the first half of 2012, the market does seem to have seen more requests directly from homeowners looking for the fibreglass

product. Projects that have been ongoing for long periods of time are starting to come to fruition.”

On the subject of pitfalls to avoid when choosing a product, John has this to say: “Look at the manufacture method of a pool and ensure that the process is being overseen – governed by a quality

process such as TUV or British Standard. This will ensure that the manufacturer understands the materials they are working with and the processes are governed to ensure a guaranteed quality finish on the product.”

A PROMISING START TO 2013 FOR CERTIKIN

Although the UK market has not been booming, the German engineers at RivieraPool have not been dormant. They have been developing new ideas and features to add into the D-line range of pools. The beauty of a fibreglass mould is the clean lines and shapes that can be formed to give comfortable seating areas and pool features that are not easily made in a concrete tiled or liner pool. The D-line range from Riviera has taken these ideas forward by keeping clean straight architectural lines in the pool shell but then allowing the addition of water rivulet

channels to be added and spring pools, all easily connected into the pool filtration system and with the addition of motorised valves can be turned on and off with the automatic pool cover system.

TILED AND TESTED, SIGNATURE POOLS NOW COME AS A SPLIT SYSTEM TOO

Signature Pools bring together the concept of a composite one-piece in-ground swimming pool with the quality finish associated with gunite. The advantage of this construction method is that installation times are drastically reduced, whilst still providing a high end, fully tiled pool which is even stronger than concrete. Conceived by expert swimming pool designers, the pools are manufactured in a controlled environment using the latest composite technology to ISO 9001 and are 100% waterproof with no
