Free Lovibond® App for Pristine Pools and Spas

The Lovibond® team is offering

a free app for all pool and spa users. As experts in pool and spa water analysis, the company has always been keen to educate on the importance of balanced water, otherwise known as the Langelier Index.

When water is in balance, it is said to be neither corrosive nor scale-forming. In other words, it will neither dissolve an existing layer of scale nor will it deposit a layer of calcium scale. Unbalanced water can aggressively eat away at the pool’s infrastructure. The Langelier Saturation Index (sometimes also known as the Langelier Stability Index) was developed in the 1930’s to determine a formula resulting in a single calculated number which is used to notify how much calcium is in the water. The golden result of just above

‘0’ means the water is ‘in balance’.

The Index is very reliable, using various parameters that can have an effect on the water balance and each is given a factor to give an Index value. Those parameters are: pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, total dissolved solids and temperature. Each of these parameters has an effect on each other proven by a formula, however it can be complex to calculate – often leading to errors in determining the exact value. The Lovibond®

team has

now solved this problem and is happy to share it with anyone who is interested in keeping pool and spa waster pristine.

Storage lockers have come a long way since those old, flimsy, uneven steel units. One of the latest products on the market, the Kwik-Locker, has taken the once-simple storage unit to a whole new level with its genius, patented design qualities, intelligent versatility, intense durability and clean, bright modernist aesthetic.

Built from mill finish aluminium and with doors made from a solid grade laminate composition, the Kwik-Locker is a highly enduring product resistant to chlorine and salt water. Suitable for areas with high-moisture content, it is ideal for swimming pools, leisure centres and spas. The product’s most outstanding design feature is its newly patented snap-lock self-assembly design which means the locker’s carcass can be assembled in less than five minutes without any specialist tools. Ingeniously, the product can be ordered flat-packed or conventionally assembled. The attention to detail is stunning. Dimpled aluminium shelves with slots assist with drainage, while a retaining bar prevents the door opening beyond 90 degrees. The 30mm radius back corners make it easy to clean and maintain. Masking these details is the Kwik-Locker’s seamless and understated aesthetic. The stainless steel hinges remained hidden with only the lock and locker number visible, providing a sleek, uncluttered look. When the doors are fitted, shadow gap lines remain consistent throughout, making for a symmetric, well-proportioned finish.

Bright, appealing laminate doors come as standard but there is the capacity for bespoke doors to be made by local suppliers, making the locker’s design possibilities endless. Peter Cahill Engineering, a third generation precision sheet metal fabrication company based in Dublin, Ireland, developed the product after years of working alongside architects and clients to manufacture bespoke lockers, enclosures and storage systems.
