Buchan have been working closely with Russell Construction for the last six months value engineering the scheme to fit in closely with their cost model before Buchan were given the green light to proceed with design, manufacture and erection. The hotel is a flagship project for Buchan Concrete Solutions, the structure being the first high rise brick-faced composite sandwich panel solution for Buchan.

Awards 2012 have now been announced, and the next stage of the judging process has begun. The cate- gories in this year’s Awards are divided into two sections, design and business, and each has its own judging panel. The next step for the design finalists was to present their entries to the judging panel at an event held at The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), while the business judges are in the process of visiting all those shortlisted in the business categories.
