I’m amazed that we are rapidly approaching the second anniversary of the start of Scottish Water Solutions 2. I wonder where the time has gone!
The evolution and development of Scottish Water Solutions 2 has been a journey. Since the beginning, our vision for this journey has been one of “leading through innovation and delivering through partnership”. For us, the development and enhancement of our partnership, with both Scottish Water and Capital Investment Delivery (CID) is a key factor of everything we do. Working together, we have continued to build on the standards for the safe delivery of capital investment in this regulatory period.

Our ongoing focus on safe delivery, including an ethos that everyone goes home safely every day, is helping to drive that culture into our day to day business. Each of us has a role to play in safety; we should never underestimate the effect that we individually have on each other and how we view safety.
In fact, when we polled our staff last summer, over 60 percent of us confirmed that working together had made us safer both inside and outside the workplace. We are now collectively pulling together with Scottish Water and CID to achieve our commitments to the business for capital investment in this year. Our teams have been diligently working on achieving acceptance and regulatory outputs
for the programme, all with a view to “doing what we say we will do” with respect to the outside stakeholders of Scottish Water.
I’ve been so impressed by results of the “One Team Working” initiative that we have ongoing with staff from CSD, AIM, Shared Service Delivery and CID. The alignment that results from one team working together drives performance on achieving outputs, beating the affordability challenge, and improving the cost efficiency position. Now is the time to focus on the finish line for this year and deliver on our commitments!
