Pillar Talk
Bringing the model of an integrated project team to life, Solutions and its in-house delivery partner Veolia Water Engineering Services (VWES) recently got together to collectively enhance their capital delivery process to ensure 300 Scottish Water sites are compliant with existing SEPA licence consents.
Always on the look out for improvements, Stuart Marsden, Solutions Construction Manager on the contract, saw an opportunity to work more closely with his VWES colleagues and organised an interactive planning session.
Solutions has used the interactive planning technique across a number of complex projects in its portfolio as an innovative mechanism to get a whole project team to understand all project tasks, how they link together and the sequence they should follow.
Solutions and VWES engineers and telemetry experts were joined by representatives from Scottish Water to establish an efficient delivery process which would enable time and ultimately cost savings, resulting in a ‘WIN’ ‘WIN’ for all parties.
Post-Its at the ready, the participants were asked to note down their tasks. These were then put into sequence until the whole delivery process was mapped out. Friendly debate over responsibilities and issues was encouraged to clarify roles and to identify possible blockers.
After much deliberation, the session ended positively with universal agreement that it had been a success.
