When asked how spiritual or religious beliefs affect healthcare, one of our community focus group participants said that her doctor once asked her “Is there anything your religion does not permit in terms of medical care.” She appreciated that this question was asked and thought it was an appropriate way of asking this question.

In 2009, 64% of clinical staff answered “Always” when asked if they include the client/patient and their family as partners in determining outcomes for treatment, as compared to 70% in 2010 and 80% in 2011.
