Supplier Diversity Ensuring everyone has a
seat at the table.
In the past year, Mountain Park has made strides to ensure that women and minority owned busi- nesses are provided with the opportunity to bid on the goods and services we purchase. Our new procurement procedure states: Mountain Park will communicate and make available all contractor/ consulting/supplier solicitations in a way that will provide opportunities for woman and minority owned business enterprises (WMBEs) to bid on or provide proposals for services. This includes both new contracts and those that are eligible for renewal. Steps to ensure that minority firms and women owned business enterprises are used when possible will include:
• Placing qualified women and minority owned businesses on solicitation lists
• Dividing total requirements, when economically feasible, into smaller tasks or quantities to permit maximum participation by small, minority, or women owned business enterprises
• Using the services and assistance of the Small Business Administration and the Minority Business Development Agency of the Department of Commerce
• Encouraging the prime contractor, if subcontracts are to be used, to subcontract with small, minority, or women owned business enterprises
As with any policy or procedure, the practice is what changes the culture. Mountain park has an op- portunity to develop our culture by ensuring that our policies and procedures related to procurement are fair and equitable.
Create a more Disability-Friendly Organization
Mountain Park will place a greater focus on efforts to adapt patient forms, facilities, and organizational practices to be more disability friendly. For example, changing the language of policies from using the term "handicapped" to the more appropriate term "persons with disabilities." All patient information forms, online, ads, will be in large font with acknowl- edgement of our intent to make our documents more readable for the visually impaired. Finally, greater access to resources like American Sign Language interpreters is needed.
