Club Mounted Games where you and your team will get to play lots of fun and imaginative games. With lots of practice you could also ride for your country! England, Scotland, Wales, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland compete at The Royal Windsor Horse Show held in May each year. You can even try sports that you may not have had the opportunity to do like Polo. This is like hockey on horseback! You have to hit the ball into the goal with your polo stick. There are lots of tournaments to attend and even overseas training opportunities.

The Pony Club have lots of great competitions for show jumpers and they hold two National Show

and ride cross country, meaning you and your horse need to be in tip top shape! The Barlow is very good at training and preparing for this event and has had great results to show from it; Conor Dubik has been part of the Junior Regional Team in both 2010 & 2011. He was won the area qualifier and gone to the championships held at Hartpury two years in a row.

such a great job at this, hosting all-day rallies, dismounted rallies & working rallies. Team spirit and making friends are all part of the Pony Club experience.

New Sponsor I have such exciting news and a fantastic new sponsor for the 2012 season. Global Herbs, who supply herbal supplements for animals and people, as well as specialising in the horse market, have kindly invited me on to the reward scheme sponsorship program. They are the only supplement company in the UK run by vets with the back-up of a full veterinary advice service. I currently use many of their products and cannot praise them enough, they do what they say on the tin and work so quickly. There really is a product to help such a wide range of common horse ailments from calmers to digestion, to joint & hoof and many more.

Well I hope you have found this both useful and interesting, it’s a great way to get involved so I hope to see lots of new members! Becci Harrold

Jumping Competitions. These are The Pony Club Dengie Winter League Show Jumping Championships and The Pony Club Equest & Equest Pramox Show Jumping Championships.

Tetrathlon is becoming more and more popular, and one I would definitely have loved to do if I could run! It is a challenging competition requiring sound practical horsemanship and general athletic ability. You have to run, swim, shoot

Don’t fancy jumping? Then dressage and dressage-to-music are for you! The Pony Club holds Area Competitions, Dengie winter leagues, Carr & Day & Martin Dressage Championships and dressage-to- music competitions. Louise Benson, a member of my branch, the Barlow won the Dengie League in 2009. In 2010, she also won her section and went to the Championships coming 3rd. More recently last year, she came 2nd in area dressage and 10th in the championships, some record!

There really is something for everybody to get involved with as the Pony Club even offers polocrosse, pony racing, endurance, hunting exchange and the NFU national quiz to try.

Not only are there lots of competitions, the vital part is training and preparing for them. Pony Club do
