Sian & Ceaser
Hi everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas, a very happy New Year and got all the Christmas presents you wanted!

Ceaser and I went out of 2011 with quite a bang. At Laughton Manor’s (near Sleaford, Lincolnshire) Unaffiliated Dressage in November I decided to go for another Novice and Elementary test with him to finish off 2011. I must say, WOW! I couldn’t have asked for two better tests. They both felt brilliant and Ceaser behaved perfectly to say he had never been there before.
In the Novice I was more than happy to come away with 66% and a respectable 2nd, but in the Elementary I didn’t have much hope. Some fantastic horses were in the class and I was only going in to see what comments we received, but I didn’t need to worry. I came out of the arena to lots of people saying “well done” and everyone telling me it had looked amazing. To me it felt like it had gone brilliantly, but me being me, I am always finding fault with myself and thinking where I could have done better. Again though, I shouldn’t have worried as we
got a whopping 64% and won the class! Not bad to say it was only our second ever attempt at Elementary! I may be biased, but Ceaser really has turned out to be something special and I couldn’t have asked for a better pony to make a partnership with. I really would have laughed at anyone who told me he would turn into something special when we first
purchased that spindly, furry, naughty pony when he was 3 and I was 7.
My next plan now is to give him some time off from going out and just have a play at home with lots of hacking and some jumping. His walk-to-canter transitions are coming along brilliantly and he just feels better than ever right now. We will be starting our season with the British Skewbald and Piebald Association (BSPA) and Ponies (UK) winter qualifier classes. Oh, I have also been looking at some prospective young show ponies that have been broken, backed and turned away (but more on that at a later date!) Wish us good luck!
well didn’t agree with the judge’s decision, so we had to send all our sheets off to be looked at as it has been disputed. So, hopefully next month I will have the results from that competition, and the one we are hosting in January! As chairperson and A Team captain, I made the decision to stick at training at our original yard,

I am very much looking forward to the New Year –I spent the last New Year ’s Eve in hospital really quite poorly, I can’t wait to see this new year in. 2012 IS going to be a good year for me, I am determined. Not only do I turn 21 in January, but I

If you remember, last month I mentioned that our university’s Equestrian A Team had their first event of the year last week, which was hosted by Nottingham Trent at their beautiful host yard, Fairview Stud Farm. I was hoping to be able to bring you back the news of how we did, but unfortunately another university in the competition as

We have lots of new and exciting things happening at my yard in Hundleby, Lincolnshire coming up too like lots of Cross-country, Dressage and Show Jumping clinics, all with different people, so keep a look out on our Facebook Page where everything
also graduate from De Montfort University where I am studying Journalism, in July. I cannot wait to get out into the big wide world and combine my passion for both writing and horses, and get in to a job I love within the equestrian journalism industry. I am working on my dissertation now about how British Eventing is unrepresented in the British national print quality media, and I must say, the prospect of writing 11,000 words before I graduate makes July seem so far away!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Love Sian and Ceaser
