Over 1000 distribution points! A Thousand Books in the Palm of your Hand By A.G.
If you like reading books, but often find it difficult to find the latest bestsellers here in Spain, then the Amazon Kindle may be just for you. Often overlooked by the excitement surrounding the iPad, the Kindle is designed mainly for book reading. And as of early next year, there’s a new colour Kindle being launched, on which you can watch movies, read your emails, and of course keep on reading books!
The original Kindle was about the size of a paperback book and had a black and white screen. It used a technology called e-ink. The beauty of this is that the screen doesn’t shine at you, it really is just like reading a page in a book. The other great thing about this technology is that it doesn’t eat up your battery (unlike the iPad). You can charge your Kindle every couple of weeks and you’ll be just fine.
The Kindle is sold by Amazon and it’s from Amazon that you get the e-books. The Kindle includes a wi-fi internet capability and has dedicated software making it easy to download books. With most books, you can download a few pages before you pay for the full book, a sort of try-before-you-buy approach. For me this is great because if a book doesn’t get my attention in the first chapter, I won’t read the rest of the book.
The Kindle’s memory is big enough to hold more than a thousand books which should be enough for the most dedicated of bookworms amongst you. And don’t worry if you’re not tech-savvy, the software is really, really easy to use!
Price-wise, they are actual ly very cheap indeed. Wi th prices starting from just 99€ for the actual unit and books are as little as £5 for the latest books. There is actually a great selection of classics for
free as well!
Early 2012 sees the release of the KindleFire, which is closer to the functionality of an iPad, with a colour screen, web browser and email capability, not to mention the 3G capability which means you can be online anywhere (subject to a data plan).
I’ve met a number of Kindle users and they all say the same thing: “I love my Kindle”, what more could you ask for a recommendation.
