Specialist police investigation centres open Norfolk and Suffolk Police Authorities have teamed up to deliver six new Police Investigation Centres. All six centres will be open by the end of this year and will benefit from a number of economies of scale, for example they all share a com- mon, energy efficient, M&E specification. Grundfos Pumps Ltd are delighted to be
the provider of all the pumping requirements for all the new PICs. This has included working in conjunction with Geothermal Intl. Ltd. who are ground source heating and cooling experts and who have successfully worked with Grundfos to deliver similar schemes to this in the past. The final energy efficient pump schedule included a wide range of Grundfos TPE single stage centrifugal pumps.

Nibe exhaust air heating for ‘zero carbon’ homes Swindon Borough Council recently com- pleted the building of 13 ‘zero carbon’ houses, bringing the national total for these super eco-homes to only 132. The energy conserving features and particularly the ulti- mate reduction of emissions to achieve ‘zero carbon’ status, are completed by the inclu- sion of an exhaust air recycling process designed by Nibe Energy Systems and powered by a Nibe F410 Heat Pump. The
theory behind Nibe exhaust air heating is simple, the air, carbon rich and fully heated by the ufch plus background warmth from human and other sources, is harvested at roof level before it reaches the ‘vented void’ ventilation system.

Scooping new options in daylighting Better aesthetics and performance in natural daylighting is being brought to market with the latest tubular rooflight from Passivent Ltd. Passivent, supplier of eco-friendly strategies, says its new Sunscoop is also the only system of its kind to come with a 25 year warranty, optimising peace of mind for the long term. The new Passivent Sunscoop features a square, low profile roof dome. The square profile simplifies installation in all roof materials and eliminates the need to create complex flashing detailing
inherent with conventional round roof flashings. The low-profile polycarbonate roof glazing improves aesthetics once installed, minimising variations along the roofline without any impact on the amount of natural daylight entering the building below down the highly reflective tube.
