RockShell celebrates UK launch at Passivhaus RockShell, the low energy and external load bearing wall system from Rockwool, cele- brated its recent UK launch at this year’s UK Passivhaus Conference. The conference pro- vided the ideal platform from which to formally introduce the Passivhaus certified system to UK architects, developers and energy man- agers. Exhibiting as main sponsors at the event, RockShell UK showcased a model of the wall system to demonstrate simplicity of build and speed of construction. This gave conference

delegates the opportunity to see how RockShell is constructed of I-shaped steel profiles encompassed in heavy Rockwool insulation.

A new multi storey car park, built by VolkerFitzpatrick for ProLogis as part of the new DIRFT II rail port, warehouse and distribution facility in Daventry, Northamptonshire, has been protected using Stirling Lloyd's Decseal®

car park

waterproofing and wearing course systems. Following construction of the site's new two-storey concrete car park, specialist contractors VolkerLaser were required to work to a demanding schedule of just six weeks to complete 15,000m² of deck coatings. The tight programme was a major factor in the Decseal system being selected for the work. The system’s simple, rapid appli- cation, combined with its fast cure, helped meet the deadline of a May 2011, opening in spite of the wet weather encountered. The full Decseal system’s dual function properties sees it increasingly used as a fully reinforced water- proofing and wearing course system, while the Decseal Wearing Course func- tions as a standalone wearing course on less exposed areas of a structure.
