190-194 Eltham High Street 020 8859 2931 Eltham Hill Parking

Lisa Poyner of Eltham writes to the Editor

Yet again the ugly spectre of the lack of parking on Eltham Hill and surrounding roads for residents has raised its head

The latest problem is the White Hart Carvery which is due to open soon. Without any parking facilities provided for its customers where will they park you ask? The answer, on Eltham Hill and its adjacent roads of course. The fi rm of Baily and Garners workforce already cause residents disruption and annoyance with their attitude to residents who wish to park near their homes. Some have been abusive and seem to believe that because they work on Eltham Hill they have a right to a parking space. I know we are not the only road to have these parking problems.

Take an interest in local events

Also the workers on Eltham Pools seem to feel it is OK to cone off parking areas in Sherard Road for their own use It is time the council did something about this parking dilemma such as permit parking for residents or as it is in roper street pay and display parking for 2 hours. Its time those residents who actually live here have a chance to park instead of those who do not.

SEnine Comment

Lisa, I am sure the council will jump at the opportunity to introduce a controlled parking zone (CPZ ) in your area. With costs up to £100.00 per resident car they love this hidden tax you will pay to park in front of your own house. In addition the council gets the income from fi nes on those without permits. CPZ charges are an unfair penalty on residents who should get free permits without any charge.
