MEMBER SECTION: AWARDS Top five place for Darren

A senior project manager from a West Midlands based construction company was one of just ten finalists in his category in this year’s ‘Construction Manager of the Year Awards’. Darren Green, from building firm Shaylor Group, was named as a finalist in the housing/accommodation projects over £6m category, and ended up finishing in the top five. The ‘Construction Manager of the Year Awards’ has been running since

1979 and the roll of past medal winners represents the cream of the industry. The award ceremony and gala dinner took place in mid-October at the Marriott Grosvenor Hotel Park lane in London. A spokesman for the awards said: “No other awards in the construction

industry are subject to the level of judging and scrutiny that the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) applies to these awards. This is why the ‘Construction Manager of the Year Awards’ is so highly prized.” Darren was nominated for his work on the Bondcare, Bromford Lane, Birmingham project, which included the design and construction of a 116- bed three-storey care facility. The £6m project took 43 weeks to complete.
