Business relations manager appointed as service expands
Nicola Clark Head of Marketing and Communications
Chiltern Railways has expanded its business offering in the West Midlands and has appointed a business relationship manager, who is based at Birmingham Moor Street station. John Davidson, previously lived and worked in
Birmingham and has a BA in Business and Economics from Cambridge. He is also no stranger to the railways, once working on a major project to investigate the options for High Speed rail in America. John took up his role in the
run up to the launch of the new Mainline service and is very excited about the new offering for business travel in the West Midlands.
‘John once worked on a major project to investigate the options for High Speed rail in America’
He explains: “In the West Midlands we’re lucky to have three fiercely competing train firms going to London. However, what we’ve done at Chiltern Railways is work closely with the local business community to design a travel experience that they actually want.” The company launched Mainline at the start of September with a new simpler fares structure, faster services from 90 minutes into London and a new product, the Business Zone. This was created to fill a much needed niche, providing all the valued business benefits of first class, but excluding the non- essentials at a fraction of the cost of first class.

Looks can be deceiving W
BY SUE COOKE
ith its dramatic looks, taking your new Range Rover
Evoque plunging down the side of a slippery muddy hill is probably the last thing you would want to do. But the fact is that this smallest and lightest Range Rover is still capable of some pretty hair-raising manoeuvres on the less travelled off- roading landscape. But if you’re going to spend over £30,000 on a car then it has to be a car that you can show off. The cool coupe or five-door exterior models have sensational features including an 825W Meridian surround sound system with 16 speakers and sub woofer, an innovative dual-view touchscreen display and TV with rear seat entertainment.

Approach the car at night and you will also see a bold Range Rover graphic alongside the front doors, illuminated by ‘puddle lights’ in the mirrors. The coupé model precisely mirrors the LRX
concept car design with a high waistline, whereas the five-door adopts a slightly higher rear roofline for extra practicality. Both are built on the Freelander platform for drivers who want a Range Rover but on a smaller scale, with a wider and lower track. With aluminium suspension and bonnet, this new Range Rover pilots the future for all Land Rovers

which will be built to be lighter and more fuel efficient. Step into the interior and fire the ignition and displays come to life with an animated start-up sequence, while the rotary auto shifter completes the ‘greeting’ as it rises silently into the driver’s hand.
LED ambient lighting provides sophisticated and precise illumination. If you select Dynamic mode a sporting red colour scheme fills the interior as well as the instrument dials and
cluster display. Customers can choose from an array of design, trim and technology options. Soft, premium leather and beautifully tailored, twin-needle stitching provide a luxurious finish to almost every surface of the instrument panel, doors and seats. Smooth and responsive turbocharged engines include an updated 2.2-litre turbodiesel with 190PS or 150PS derivatives. The Evoque will be the first Range Rover to offer
customers a choice between the standard, full-time, intelligent, four-wheel-drive system, which delivers outstanding performance and traction on all surfaces, and a low-carbon, front-wheel-drive option for further enhanced fuel economy. At the launch of this new SUV I experienced dynamic and agile handling across all terrains. The Land Rover all weather all surface capability is truly legendary and it can all be viewed on a camera system which surrounds the car, so you can check if the wheels have fallen out of the deep muddy ruts! I’m not sure that I would want to take my
gorgeous Range Rover Evoque off-roading, but the fact is that this new SUV looks good, yet is practical.
M6 toll road launches new website
The M6 toll, in partnership with SOUK 360, has launched a new customer-focused, interactive website. The site at
www.m6toll.co.uk is designed to be customer friendly and follows research into what main users want to make their journey on the road easier and stress-free.
Midland Expressway Limited, which operates the toll road, says the new website engages with both existing and new customers. It gives users information on how
to use the M6 toll and the ways in which to join the road, enabling customers to choose the best route for them with easy and clear charges and detailed interactive
animations, demonstrating the methods of payment available. Midland Expressway chief
executive Tom Fanning said: “The M6 toll remains the road of choice for up to 45,000 customers every day. Our customers rightly expect a professional service and as such we will continue to refine services to meet their needs.”
