In 2004 he was appointed as independent investment banking corporate in relation to Ernst and Young’s successful defence of a £3.6 billion claim from Equitable Life. In the same year he helped found Fenchurch, a specialist independent investment banker providing mergers and acquisitions advice to leading financial institutions. Fenchurch was voted financial services advisor of
the year in 2010 by Acquisitions Monthly. Mr Karim is a Ugandan Asian who came to the UK
in 1972, following the expulsion of the African country’s Indian minority by dictator Idi Amin. Mr Karim’s family settled in Leicester, and he
went on to graduate from Manchester University with a BA and MA in Economics. A keen golfer and cricketer, Mr Karim is married to Azmina, and has two children. In 2008 he ran the London Marathon with a colleague, raising £105,000 for three charities. He was a founding donor and advisory board member of Mosaic Community Trust, a charity established to promote community cohesion and religious harmony. He is currently chairing a British Muslim project to establish a unit dedicated to recording anti-Muslim hate crime.

Business had made a significant investment to offer fantastic facilities. He said: “We are located just 15 minutes away from Birmingham city
centre and for special corporate events, birthdays or weddings; we can offer a trio of bronze, silver and gold packages which will suit all budgets. “We have parking spaces for 600 cars and it is free, whereas most
venues now charge extra for parking.” James took up his new role just seven months ago but has previously
worked for Warwickshire County Cricket Club and for Birmingham City Football Club, so has a wealth of experience. He said: “We have a private bar facility with a late licence and can put
event organisers in touch with friendly caterers. Nasir Awan, president of the Institute of Asian Businesses, who toured
the new premises, said: “I am overwhelmed with the facilities on offer here. It will prove a novel venue for conferences and business use. “Events at the new banqueting suite will provide an opportunity for the
business community to visit the greyhound stadium, which most people may not have seen.”
