Are you prepared for winter motoring ? We asked a local Time Served Technician and garage owner for his expert opinion on how we can make our winter journeys safer and as trouble free as possible. Alan Calverley, the proprietor of Devron Motors of Great Harwood, gave us the following tips for what is predicted to be another long hard winter. Now is the time to check all the levels on your vehicle. Water, Oil, Power Steering, Brake Fluid, Screen Wash, and Antifreeze. If you are in any doubt just pop in to your regular garage and ask them to help. Check your tyre pressures and depth of tread, you need your tyres in peak condition for the wet and often slippery conditions ahead. Check your lights. One top tip for any winter journey is to carry a few essentials such as a blanket, sturdy footwear, a spare bottle of screen wash, your mobile phone ( fully charged + car charger ) and even a shovel, and always let someone know where you are going and what time you expect to arrive. Have a safe winter.

Little Boy Loo A little three year old boy is sitting on the toilet. His Mother thinks he has been in there too long. So she goes in to see what’s up. The little boy is sitting on the toilet reading a book, but about every 10 seconds or so he puts the book down, grips onto the toilet seat with his left hand and hits himself on top of the head with his right hand. His Mother says: “Billy, are you all right? You’ve been in here for a while?” Billy says: “I’m fine, Mummy … I just haven’t done it yet.” Mother says: “OK, you can stay here a few more minutes. But, Billy, why are you hitting yourself on the head?” Billy says: “It works on the tomato sauce bottle!”
