NEW WEDA HIGH CAPACITY W50 CLEANER ARRIVES ON THE MARKET
existing Weda B600 which is used in larger commercial and 50m Olympic pools, both indoors and outdoors, and even as it celebrates its 30th anniversary, the Weda B600 automatic pool cleaner still has the most powerful pump available on the market (72m³/hr).
This powerful suction makes it possible to operate the machine on vertical walls, a feat that must be seen to be believed.
Pump & Pool Products, the automatic pool cleaner specialists in Stockport, Cheshire, have introduced a new Weda W50 pool cleaner on to the market.
The Weda W50R automatic cleaner is a feature packed unit for high capacity cleaning of swimming pools. Fitted with thick rotating brushes front and rear, coupled with a high performance pump that exceeds 600 litres per minute ensuring a thorough and consistent clean. Equipped with a radio remote control for automatic and/or manual cleaning, and enabling easy access to hard to reach areas for spot cleaning.
Fully integrated laser sensors ensure automatic cleaning without any moving parts for the control functions. Obstacles are identified and the cleaner is automatically steered away.
The W50R is easy to use with a minimum of settings and comes as standard with ‘Beach Control’ which returns the cleaner back into the water if it runs dry.
As with all Weda cleaners the W50R is based around a proven submersible pump with a metal impeller that does not get impeded by the larger particles that are often found in public pools.
This new model complements the
All Weda products meet the demands of the EC declaration of conformity for machines and electrical equipment. This is warranted by the CE mark. For smaller pools Squirrel ‘Evolution’ with ‘WallGrip’ is the complete automatic pool cleaner for cleaning the bottoms and walls of pools up to 25m.
The ‘Evolution’ has also been designed for pools demanding a stronger cleaning capacity.

AQUAMAT’S HEAT RETENTION COVERS SWING INTO ACTION
Aquamat’s 6mm Heat Retention Covers have been used to help tackle the energy efficiency requirements on two pools at the refurbished National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace. The covers were particularly suitable due to their heavy-duty closed polyethylene foam and gave Crystal Palace huge savings on fuel bills from the reduction in heat loss from the surface of the pool. Aquamat’s 3m high Opal roller was used for each pool, which was
designed and wall mounted by them. Due to Aquamat’s flexibility they were able to fit each roller to Crystal Palace’s requirements. Fitted with a 24V DC motor, the rolling tube will provide additional safety and keep running costs to a minimum each year.
The pools will be used in the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The £13m project at Crystal Palace has included an installation of a combined heat and power (CHP) based system which has been funded by the London Development Agency (LDA).
The nationally-significant, mixed sports facility owned by the LDA and operated by Greenwich Leisure Limited, contracted Vital Energi to specify pool covers to help reduce total energy costs by up to £400,000 per annum.
For this, the biggest swimming complex in the UK today, Aquamat manufactured and installed covers and electric reel systems for the 50m x 20m Olympic sized pool, 20m x 20m diving pool, 7m x 20m infant pool and a 20m x 8m learner pool. Dick Goodall, Proprietor at Aquamat commented: “We are extremely pleased to be involved in such a significant project with its connections to the 2012 Olympics. Aquamat’s covers were exactly what were needed to help save energy costs. If the pools were left uncovered at night, it would cost National Sports Centre about £100,000 in wasted energy.”

Fifteen colours of tank tiles and a full range of tile fittings, pool deck tiles and pool surround tiles are available in the Johnson Tiles new Absolute Pools range which is being seen for the first time this autumn.
The range, specially created for the pool market is a development of the company’s respected Absolute range of tiles for other markets. Johnson Tiles has a wide offering for pool designers, architects and builders. This means that all porcelain and glass tiles are therefore suitable for use as swimming pool tiles in conjunction with their guidelines for safety. Johnson Tiles has a vast range of products suitable for use as swimming pool tiles in a variety of shapes and sizes. Glass and porcelain mosaics can also be used as pool tiles. Ranges with suitable pool tiles are Kerastar, Glass Mosaic and Ceramic Mosaic tiles as well as the Absolute range.
