Circuit Clerks broke out in small groups to do their “presentation skills” homework. It was good fun for everyone. The group met in June at the Durand Center in Harrison.

Circuit Clerks hone presentation skills, hear of juror management

When the Arkansas Circuit Clerks gathered in Harrison for a continuing education workshop June 8-10, their agenda included technical topics such as “juror management system” and “Contexte case management system.” But the Clerks may have had the most fun with UCA speech and communica- tion instructor Melissa Crawford’s session on “presentation skills.” After working through her PowerPoint presentation with enthusiasm, talking about do’s and don’ts of speaking and meeting the public, Crawford had a little pop quiz for her students. She divided them into groups of three and four and try some of her social exercises to get past that nervous stage, opening up to one another and learning some secrets about one another. Ten one person in each small group was asked to stand and summarize some of what they had discovered. Te Circuit Clerks rose to the challenge and seemed to have a lot of fun with it – all while reinforcing the instructor’s list of key things to do while addressing others. President Donna Wilson, the Stone County and Circuit Clerk, presided

over the three-day event, which included an association business meeting and legislative update by Jeff Sikes, AAC Legislative Director.
