Sheriffs install new executive board, honor Life Members Te Arkansas Sheriffs held their Summer Convention June 27-29
in Springdale. ASA Executive Director Chuck Lange said he was pleased with the turnout of the convention, characterizing it as a big success. “Te participation we had for the convention made this summer’s
event an inspiring, informative, and educational experience for all members,” said Lange, adding the convention was packed full of training and fellowship among the Sheriffs. A highlight was installation of the 2011-2012 Executive Board.
Tey are as follows: President - Washington County Sheriff Tim Helder; 1st VP -
Garland County Sheriff Larry Sanders; 2nd VP - Scott County Sher- iff Cody Carpenter; Executive Secretary - Van Buren County Sheriff Scott Bradley; Secretary-Treasurer - Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas; Financial Chairman - Baxter County Sheriff John Montgom- ery; Sgt. at Arms - Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss; and Legis- lative Chairman - Newton County Sheriff Keith Slape. Along with the installation of the officers, Life Member Awards
were presented to a group of former Sheriffs attending the conven- tion. “It is a true honor to be made a Life Member of the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Association and these Sheriffs were more than deserving,” said Lange. Te Life Member Awards went to: Former Polk County Sheriff and ASA President, now U.S. Mar-
shal Mike Oglesby; former Cross County Sheriff and ASA President - Ronnie Baldwin; former Marion County Sheriff and ASA Presi- dent - Carl McBee; former Pope County Sheriff and ASA President - Jay Winters, now ADEM Deputy Director.
Secretary of State staffers Shira Kelley and Ralph Burns present Hempstead County Sheriff James Singleton with an Arkansas Traveler print (door prize).
