Sevier County turns out big to honor its senior citizens Sevier County held its 30th Annual Senior Citizens


Appreciation Day on May 27 at DeQueen. Te event, held on the shady courthouse square, began in 1981 as a way for the community to celebrate and honor its senior citizens. “By noon, over 393 seniors had registered and over 550 meals were served,” said Judge Greg Ray, illustrat- ing what a “big deal” the event is each year. In addi- tion to coming in from all over Sevier County, attend- ees from Little River, Polk, Pike and Howard counties came and enjoyed the fun “Tis is a really positive thing for our county,” said Judge Ray. “It brings a lot of seniors together for fun and fellowship.” (Photos courtesy Bonita Smith, CFO, Bunyard Broadcasting, Inc., home to KDQN AM & FM)
