Careline Theatre: Professional actor and drama teacher, Lee Walker, directed the Careline Kids participation in the Monte Pego Drama Festival. He has also held a read through of Graham Swannell’s A State of Affairs which is being considered for a future Careline Theatre production. The play is far removed from the affairs of state; it is all about the state of marriage,
sex and adultery. Well, perhaps not that far removed. It deals with its subjects with compassion and a lot of humour.

At last we are enjoying a Spanish summer, a bit late, but maybe we will appreciate it that little bit more. I actually attended an open air theatre production in June where I was presented with a ticket, programme and a blanket – amazing! But well done the Yabooh Company for weathering the weather. This month is the time for swimming pool rehearsals, readings, committee meetings all accompanied by a gin and tonic – it’s a hard life!
A D H O C T h e a t r e Company: Next production will be the Ray Clooney farce, Run For Your Wife, directed by Debbie Payton. New members are welcome at this Torrevieja based
group. For further information:
adhoctg2010@hotmail.co.uk or phone Debbie on 672 616 784. They have also formed the ADHOC Youth Theatre Company, ages from 5 to 17 who will be performing later this year. Should anyone wish to become involved email:
adhoctg2010@hotmail.co.uk or phone Suzanne on 627 371 731.
Calpe Gilbert and Sullivan Society: Rehearsals have started for their autumn concerts, which will include Trial by Jury. The Mikado is planned for next spring. Why not go along and have a drink whilst listening to them practise and see whether you would like to join. They need more Tenors and Altos. Anyone interested in joining the Wednesday night rehearsals at 19.00, should phone the President Aileen Lightfoot on 696 514 613, or email to
aileen2light@yahoo.com
Campoverde Theatre: The successful We’re Stepping Out production raised 500€ for charity Caritas of Pilar de la Horadada. The cast are having a well earned rest before their next show Yestertainment to be held in October. They are also
planning a recruitment evening in ‘Cafe Rene’ in September, date still to be confirmed. They meet every Wednesday at the Olympia Restaurant, Mil Palmeras at 14.00 and new members are always welcome. Further information contact Colin on 966 774 127.
Cameo: The photo shows Ray and June Seal dressed ready to sing their version of Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe” in Cameo’s hit show Rollercoaster of Love, a show full of well known songs, exciting dance routines, colourful costumes performed by an enthusiastic cast. Their last show before their summer break will be Saturday 11th July at Ciudad Patricia Senior Resort in Benidorm. Tickets 5€ obtainable from the Cameo Box Office: 656 483 645 – open 10.00 to 14.00 (Mon. to Fri.) or reserving at the Main Reception at Ciudad Patricia. The raffle on the evening will be organised by HELP of Benidorm.
Cardinal Belluga Theatre Group: They’ve done it again! Their last production Musical Kaleidoscope was another great success. Colourful costumes, clever dance routines and original
comedy all made it one of the best. After the grand finale, Chairman Maria Mosley presented the paramedics from La Marina, a cheque for 1000€ bringing the total donated to the ambulance to date at 7000€. The show will be staged again in September. All enquiries: Liz Banyard on: 966 797 983.
Footlights Theatre Group: Members are taking a break from Fiddler on the Roof rehearsals. Although they have a cast of over 30 they would still welcome some additional men, especially to join the “papas”. The show will be staged in mid November in Alfaz del Pi and Calpe. Rehearsals Thursday evenings, in Marcia’s Dance Centre, Calpe. Anyone interested in joining Footlights should contact the Secretary Trevor Harder: Tel: 965 870 198, or the Director Sue Burgess: Tel: 965 581 543.
