Fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid which is what gives our skin its elasticity and youthful appearance. The amount of acid present in the body diminishes with age.

Combine this with sun exposure, smoking, alcohol, hormonal changes, and gravity and our skin begins to show signs of flaccidity, dryness and to produce wrinkles as the years go by.

Fillers replace that which we have lost and because they are slowly reabsorbed by the body, their effectiveness lasts for 1 year to 18 months although people like to have small top ups before the loss of filler becomes visible.

Botox applications should be renewed every 3-6 months depending on the patient. Botox® (Vistabel) works by stopping muscle hyperactivity eg constant frowning or clenching.

By reducing muscle movement, the skin stops being creased and is allowed to recover, causing the lines to soften and fade away.

Over time the patient can retrain the facial muscles to be less expressive by breaking the habit of subconscious overuse.

Many people fear Botox but it has been widely used in the cosmetic field for over 20 years with no known allergies. In fact, in the UK and the States, having one’s Botox top up has become as run of the mill as having one’s nails done or hair highlighted!

At Clinica Dental Zen, Botox is used to give patients a youthful refreshed appearance but also to relax the jaw muscles in bruxists (patients who grind their teeth) to ease tooth wear, headaches and neck/back pain.

So, if every time you look in the mirror you notice those annoying lines becoming deeper or you would just like to rediscover your younger self, or quite simply you fancy a guilt-free confidence boost, call us at Clinica Dental Zen on 966 425 485 for a free cosmetic consultation.
