New incentives from the Generalitat Valenciana.
With the warm weather approaching and after a series of similar successful campaigns including Plan Renove Caldera (Boilers) and Plan Renove Ventana (Windows) 2010, AVEN introduce Plan Renove Air conditioning 2011.
Incentives of up to 500€ are being offered in an effort to encourage homeowners to replace old air conditioning units, (irrespective of age and model) when exchanging them for a classe A rated unit.
All residing in the Comunidad Valenciana are eligible for the grants which are given at point of sale and later claimed back by the retailer.
1.200.000€ has been put aside for the scheme which is set to finish on 30th September 2011. In order to qualify, the beneficiary will need to provide a copy of their residencia or NIE plus a copy of their passport. They also need to give up
their old air con unit so that it can be recycled and so that the refrigerant can be disposed of safely.
Grants are available for the exchange of one compressor per household (with one or more interior units) and the amount of the subsidy depends on the KW output for the new unit.
As with similar schemes the installations must be carried out by an “instaladora RITE “ who is licenced and authorised to carry out air-conditioning installation and maintenance and is registered with the Ministry of Industry.
Michael Smeed from 100% Plumbing explained “Studies highlighting the damage caused to the ozone layer by the HCFC´ gave cause for the R-22 refrigerant to be outlawed some years ago and as a result it has become more and more difficult to find technical assistance for these older units. This, coupled with the energy saving possibilities, means that there has never been a better time to upgrade and benefit from quieter, safer and more energy efficient systems.”
