Powerful 3M performance warranty to support HP printers

In a collaborative initiative between 3M and HP, selective HP Latex printers will now have the support of the 3M™ MCS™ (Matched Component System) Warranty. This is recognised globally as the industry-leading extended performance warranty for finished graphics. Under the warranty, print service providers and graphics producers certified by 3M to offer the MCS support facility will be able to guarantee the performance of graphics against failure for up to five years. This guarantee is contingent upon the use of HP/3M speciality inks, 3M media and the adoption of 3M recommended application procedures. Central to the success of this new initiative has been the

development of the HP/3M co-branded speciality LX600 inks. These are the only inks that carry the 3M MCS Warranty and are based on the patented HP Latex ink technology. They provide another compelling reason for the adoption of more environmentally aware water-based printing as a truly viable alternative to solvent-based processes by providing comparable production speeds, unattended operation and superior quality across a wide range of disparate graphics applications. They will be used as part of the 3M MCS Warranty offering on

the HP Scitex LX600 and LX800 and the HP Designjet L65500 printers. The inks are designed for use on a wide range of 3M recommended media, including opaque, translucent and reflective formats. Announcing the 3M MCS Warranty using HP Latex technology

initiative, European Market Development Manager for 3M Commercial Graphics, Rainer Schloesser commented: “This important new development will enable graphics manufacturers to produce high-quality output backed by this globally renowned and comprehensive 3M warranty.” Business Development Manager for the Scitex division of HP, Udi Nachmany added: “‘Our collaboration with 3M for a solution backed by the acclaimed 3M MCS Warranty is another significant step to assist the adoption of Latex printing as a true alternative to solvent printing technologies.” Companies at present unable to offer the 3M MCS Warranty

can still benefit from the powerful 3M Performance Guarantee that ensures the compatibility of 3M materials with HP Latex inks. ICC profiles for this printer, in common with other HP platforms, are now available as part of this advancement. For further information on the 3M MCS Warranty, visit

A Fitting Accreditation for Horizon Signs

Huddersfield based sign manufacturing specialist, Horizon Signs, has been investing in the development of its workforce by sending four of its employees on a course to gain their CSCS cards which allows them to fit signs for clients in addition to manufacturing them. Many projects now demand full compliance with the CSCS

scheme as it allows clients to ensure both trade competence and health & safety requirements. Four of Horizon’s employees have received CSCS cards

after completing the relevant courses to the highest standards. As the company has won many contracts recently to supply signs to schools and councils across the UK, it enables Horizon

to be in control from beginning to end, manufacture to fitting, and to work with the clients to fit in with their requirements and deadlines. Ross Ball, Director at Horizon Signs, commented: “Having four

of the workforce with CSCS cards gives our clients greater confidence in our employees competence and health and safety awareness. It has added another element to our already highly skilled team and is helping us to continue to secure more contracts – from small projects right through to government funded schemes such as Building Schools for the Future.” For further information telephone Horizon Signs on 01484 460909 or visit www.horizon-signs.co.uk
