Vehicle liveries helping good causes

Signarama York wrapped an RV and Skoda Yetti (pictured right) to create maximum awareness when former soldier Andy McMenamy set out on Challenge 66. Signarama completed the project,

from receipt of artwork, in just three days. All the details of the challenge together with sponsors’ logos were applied to the vehicles using digitally printed vinyl. Challenge 66 involved Andy running

66 Ultra Marathons (50 Km each) in 66 consecutive days in the 66 official cities of UK. Andy’s plan is to raise £1 million for ABF The Soldiers Fund (formerly the Army Benevolent Fund) which is celebrating its 66 year anniversary. The charity provides support to soldiers and veterans, as well as their families. Andy started his world record attempt in Leeds on 16 March

and successfully overcame a painful Achilles tendon, severe inflammation of part of his shin, and mental and physical fatigue to complete his final ultra marathon in York on 20 May. Signarama York can be contacted via the website www.signarama-york.co.uk or telephone 01904 692588.

Pictured below is one of 12 delivery vehicles that Travis Perkins had re-sprayed and liveried pink in support of the charities Breast Cancer Campaign and Children's Hospices UK. The paintwork was done at MTE Sheffield, and livery by Elliott Signs, part of the Sherwood Group, last year. Each Travis Perkins branch has had or will have a pink delivery

vehicle for two weeks, meaning these striking trucks will be seen throughout the entire UK. Last year the initiative raised almost half a million pounds and expectations are for even more this year. The company says response from their drivers has been really

supportive, with some branches even asking if they could keep the pink vehicles for much longer.

A major PLC, Travis Perkins is a leading company in the

builders’ merchant and home improvement markets, and a main supplier to the building and construction market. Further information on Travis Perkins is available at

This unusual vehicle livery project (pictured above) was undertaken by Dick Northcote, owner of Fastsigns Watford who transformed a Chevrolet into an authentic NYPD police car. It took about two months to complete the

job, as the owner wanted the vehicle to be a perfect replica, including matching the blue colour, which is a reflective blue so took some time to get the exact match, and the precise typography, right down to the angle of the red capital letters. There were also issues involved in

converting the car to be road legal in Britain, which meant the design had to be slightly altered. For example the indicator light under the shield that is required in the UK but not in the USA, means that the shield is marginally smaller than on the US version of the car.
