PRODUCT Choice An installation with a twist

When the team at Mantech (UK) Ltd (see pages 24 and 25 for further details), obtained an order for the delivery of one of the company’s Model M25 CNC Routers to Stockport, they were in for a surprise a few days prior to delivery. The company is experienced in

the supply and installation of laser en- gravers/cutting machines and CNC routers, and sometime deliveries, mainly laser engravers and small CNC Routers, are to office areas that can be located on mezzanine floors. Yes, some good old fashion hard labour, i.e. lifting power, is required to get the equipment up the stairs. Sometimes, at point of delivery,

customers even have to remove windows or knock out walls but on this occasion none of this was needed, so what was the twist? Read on to find out. First some facts. A M25 CNC

Router has working dimensions of 2500 X 1300mm and the machine body dimensions are 3000 x 1500mm weighing approximately 1000 kg. This small mammoth (excuse the contradiction) with the add-on of a vacuum pump, dust collector and electrical cabinet demands some attention when manoeuvring.

Delivering and installing equipment at a customer’s premises

is exciting for the Mantech (UK) team, but here they were confronted with a 12 metre gravel driveway leading up to a garage, and an entrance to the property not wide enough to allow a Hiab Lorry to comfortable offload the CNC Router in place. And that was not the end of it, the gravel driveway had a tight curve early on. Luckily, as mentioned earlier, the element of surprise was revealed a few days prior to delivery. So all the initial planning found

its way out of the window and plan B was created. Not to compromise on the delivery date, Mantech (UK) gathered together in minimal time, two large vans, two pallet trucks, a car trailer and two large steel plates. Bernard Van Cleven of Mantech (UK) says: “Now we

are all engineers and I am sure you can figure out the manoeuvring bit, and a few painful hours later, we all had our cups of tea and coffee, our mind still trying to grasp what our eyes were witnessing ... an M25 CNC Router in its final position in a garage!
