PROJECT News Trade Signs communicates by design
Trade Signs UK works very hard with its customers to help achieve their visions and ideas and when Communication by Design approached Trade Signs UK about producing its stand for Google, excitement was in the air. Sales Manager of Trade
Signs UK, Steve Sandford said, “When we got the go ahead for this job, the whole factory took an interest in where the sign was going and what it was being used for.” The word android is
pivotal to the brand image and needed to stand out. To accommodate this, four sets were designed and manufactured at approximately one metre in height, and Trade Signs UK sourced a specific custom colour for powder coating through a scanning process using a brand colour for a paint match. Trade Signs UK was committed to ensuring these letters made a bold statement, commanding attention from passers-by while reflecting the quality of the brand. Communication by Design’s brief for creating the Android Stand at WMC
was to build on the current Android momentum, to showcase the breadth of the Android system and to create a buzz around Android's presence at the show. With its complex stand design requiring the organisation of seven different trades from four different countries along with the involvement of 50 app developers to accommodate on the stand, Trade Signs UK knew they needed an award winning design that really brought to life the 'Android World'. The Senior Exhibition Designer of Communication by Design, Jonathan
Salter said, “We certainly achieved our objective by drawing 50% of the overall MWC audience to the stand - an outstanding 25,000 visitors. The stand was the most talked about in Barcelona, both in the real and virtual world, generating over 50,000 web mentions.” Trade Signs UK was impressed by the stand and very proud that the letters stood out on such a large scale. It just goes to show, Trade Signs really does ‘Communicate by Design’. For further information telephone Trade Signs UK on 01442 828968 or visit
