Ο Αγώνας
Με τον τυπικό Μιστράλ (Mistral) να φυσάει πλην της Πέµπτης που έκοψε, οι κούρσες ήταν θεαµατικές. Εκκινήσεις στο χιλιοστό, κροσαρίσµατα, εκτελέσεις ποινών σε δευτερόλεπτα, τακ και πότζες µε κινηµατογραφική ταχύτητα, καβατζαρίσµατα στον πόντο, βίρα µπαλονιού και απογείωση του σκάφους µε όλο το πλήρωµα στην πρύµνη και τη βολίδα να ξεπλωρίζει. Ταχύτητες που σηµειώθηκαν ήταν 16 – 18 κόµβους.
Στη πρώτη κούρσα η Αzzura καλά φορµαρισµένη µε µια εξαιρετική εµφάνιση πέτυχε τη πρώτη νίκη. Οι Αµερικανοί της Quantum όµως πέρασαν στην αντεπίθεση και δεν άφησαν για τις επόµενες δύο κούρσες άλλον για την πρώτη θέση. Ανέβαιναν σιγά - σιγά και οι Ισπανοί. ∆υστυχώς για τους Αµερικάνους µετά τις πρωτιές είδαν να τερµατίζουν τελευταίοι και να έρχεται αντεπίθεση από τους Βρετανούς µε δύο απανωτές πρωτιές. Οι Ισπανοί του Bribon ενώ φλέρταραν συνεχώς µε τις πρώτες θέσεις, του βγήκε η πρωτιά στην 6η κούρσα. Το Container σε όλα τα προηγούµενα ήταν πάντα στη 3άδα. Πίσω το RAN το οποίο είχε ποινή και βαθµούς που το κράτησαν πίσω. Ο Schuemann µε την All4One φόρτσαρε και πέτυχε τη πρώτη θέση. Το Σάββατο στην προτελευταία κούρσα µε παράκτια διαδροµή είδαµε το Container να γράφει τους λιγότερους βαθµούς ποινής (συντελεστής 1,5) και να παίρνει απόσταση αναπνοής από τους Αµερικανούς. Την τελευταία ηµέρα o µαΐστρος κατέβαινε δυνατός, γέµιζε και έδειχνε να κρατάει γερά. Με 22-24 µίλια µέσα στο λιµάνι, έξω στο στίβο πρέπει να ξεπέρναγε τα 30. Ανέβηκε η σηµαία της αναβολής η οποία και κράτησε µέχρι της 14.32 όπου και κατέβηκε για να σηµάνει το τέλος της 2η πράξης του MedCup µε νικητή την οµάδα Container.

The Race
The races were spectacular as the typical Mistral wind blew strong except for Thursday when it dropped. Taking the lead by a hairsbreadth at the starting line, taking penalties within seconds, tacking and jibing at breakneck speed, amazing crossings, roundings almost touching the mark, hoisting spinnakers and flying the boat to the moon with her crew sitting at the aft and the bow rising above water surface. Speeds of 16-18 knots were recorded. In the first race, Azzura was in a great shape and performed magnificently, thus winning the first race. The Americans on board Quantum fought back and did not let anyone finish first in the next two races. The Spaniards were also progressing steadily. The Americans were sad to finish last after the two wins, as the British scored two consecutive leads. The Spaniards onboard Bribon flirted with the first places throughout the races and eventually finished first in the sixth race course. Container was always among the first three places followed by RAN which was given a points penalty that kept her lower down the ranking list. Schuemann with All4One put a sudden spurt and finished first. On Saturday, during the next- to-last coastal race, Container was given the lowest penalty points (coefficient 1.5) and was found only a step ahead of the Americans. On the last day the mistral was blowing strong and stronger and seemed to keep stable. The winds of 22-24 miles recorded inside the port, must have exceeded 30 miles in the beat. The postponement flag was hoisted and stayed up until 14:32 when it was lowered only to signal the end of Act 2 of the MedCup whose winner was the Container team.
