The word ‘ergonomics’ is bandied around in these days of occupational health and safety. It’s never been much of a consideration in yacht design, until now. The Soto 40 was designed from the cockpit first rather than all the fancy stuff below decks that leaves limited space for sailing the boat. Unashamedly, the Soto 40 is designed to race on-deck, not down below. The racing ergonomics are beyond anything in the class with 50cm deep cockpit providing the best winching and operational positions possible. Excellent sitting positions and footrests for the helmsman and mainsheet, the best sighting for sail trim and comfortable hiking positions for the crew.
