Royal Marines Association Concert Band Leeds Castle August 21


The Royal Marines Association Concert Band will give a rousing performance under the direction of Captain Ted Whealing RM. Enjoy an exciting mixture of music to suit all tastes, played as only the Royal Marines can. The performance will start at 3pm. Adult: £15, Child (under 16): £10.


Family Seashore Safari Reculver Country Park 23 August


Explore the rocky shore and hunt for marine creatures at the park and discover how they have adapted. Wellies and sturdy footwear required. Dogs on leads welcome. Meet at the visitor centre for a 1pm start. A donation of £1 is appreciated.


Japanese Festival Chiddingstone Castle August 29


The highlight of the day will be appearances by the Ashikita Gun Club, who have been specially invited from Japan to demonstrate their incredible 16th century matchlock guns. Other unique activities on offer will include taiko drumming workshops, when visitors of all ages can try their hand at this exhilarating performance art, combining a demanding blend of modern rhythm with dynamic moves.


BLINK: MARGATE August 27 For one night only, Margate will undergo a miraculous transformation. Thousands are expected to gather along the seafront as buildings come alive, people take to the streets and stunning fire structures appear on the beach. BLINK is a celebratory event that will re-imagine not only the seafront, but also the sea and sky beyond. A multi-award-winning team will collaborate to create a one- off, spectacular night-time event that will animate buildings, create stunning, large-scale fire objects, and interweave the theatrical and pyrotechnical elements of the show. BLINK has been developed in partnership with Turner Contemporary, Theatre Royal, Margate, Kent County Council, Thanet District Council, University of Kent, The Dreamland Trust, Dance and Thanet College. This free event starts at 9.15pm.
