Fun Day Out with Thomas at the Kent & East Sussex Railway, Tenterden July 23 and 25


Families are invited to come along to The Kent & East Sussex Railway to meet everyone’s favourite, Thomas the Tank Engine. Thomas will be making exclusive appearances at Tenterden station with some of his friends, including Sir Topham Hatt and The Fat Controller. Families can also enjoy face painting, temporary tattoos, roundabout rides and a bouncy castle. There is a special sing-along session and a 'coal' cake presentation for Thomas each day at 2:40pm.


Summer Holiday Activity Trail Lullingstone Country Park, Eynsford July 23 – September 4


Follow the clues, answer the questions and complete the trail to receive a prize. Trail sheets are available from the visitor centre. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No booking required. 10am-3pm, £2.50 per trail sheet.

Maidstone River Festival July 30


There will be lots of activities on and along the River Medway. Throughout the day crowds will enjoy live music and dance, arts and crafts, all the fun of the fair and, not forgetting, traditional favourites such as the raft race, illuminated boat parade and stunning firework finale. To mark the 10th anniversary of the opening of Whatman Park, there will be a fantastic range of family activities, including art, dance, music and sport.

Children’s Theatre: “Snow White” Leeds Castle, Nr Maidstone August 12 – 14


Chapterhouse Theatre Company will venture into the deepest, darkest depths of the enchanted forest this summer. Snow White is a heart–warming story of magic, mayhem and mystery and will delight and enthral children. Families can bring a picnic and enjoy a fairy–tale summer evening. Everyone is invited to come along in fancy dress and join in with the parade during the interval. Performance starts 5pm .

Whitstable Regatta, Tankerton Slope, Whistable August 13 - 14


Set on the beautiful Tankerton Slopes with the backdrop of the sea, the weekend events include a Viking re-enactment, marching bands and the famous Red Wheelies formation group. There will be a magnificent firework display on the foreshore as a finale to the Saturday when you can sit on the natural grandstands of the slopes looking out to sea. To close the 218th regatta, there will be a flying display by a WWII singleton Spitfire on Sunday.
