MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR GARDEN
Situated just off the A20 on the outskirts of Ashford, Godinton House and Gardens is a tranquil oasis where visitors are welcome to spend time relaxing on the lawns, reading a book under the shade of an ancient oak or taking a long, leisurely stroll around the extensive grounds. Terraced lawns bordered by the famous yew hedge,

summer-long flowering and a heady scent. Follow the steps and you will find a large, formal lily pond that is constantly fed by a natural spring and shaded by neighbouring willow trees. Beyond the pond, the Belvedere, with its Portland stone balustrade, frames wonderful views across the Stour Valley. From here, the paths lead to the wild garden with arboretum planting to an informal pond, home to kingfishers and an ever- increasing population of wildlife. The entrance to the intimate Italian garden is framed by
statues of the four continents and wonderful Japanese wisteria, which creates a waterfall of lavender flowers in May. The old walled garden with large greenhouses, cut flower beds, fruit trees and vegetables retains the look and feel of the original Victorian kitchen garden. The garden at Godinton House offers year-round colour,
starting with the vibrant early spring flowers, followed by the displays of the iris and delphinium borders. For the more energetic visitor there is a circular walk
through the 18th century park and along the Stour river, with wonderful views back to the house and garden.
