ailing from Tacoma, Washington, Dale Chihuly began his journey with glass with an education in Interior Design at the University of Washington, and specialized in glass-work at the University of Wisconsin. After graduating, and receiving the Fulbright Fellowship, Chihuly moved to Venice,
to work in the world-renowned Venini glass factoy. It was there that Chihuly learned the “Team Blow” concept of working with a larger group to produce massive sculptures made of glass, which is a major part of how his pieces are produced today.
hrough the looking glass represents a stunning example of Chihuly’s mastery of glass work and artistic ingenuity. Upon entering the exhibit, one is struck with a sense of awe and wonder, as you are immediately faced with gigantic, flowing, colorful creations of the abstract and surreal.
