THE INTERVIEW

Let’s Talk sat down with Alcina to discuss the beginnings of what is sure to be a long and fruitful path in music:

Let’s Talk Magazine: We’ve included a copy of your single, “Melt Away,” free for our read- ers to hear. It’s definitely already generated lots of buzz for you! How did the song come about? Alcina: When “Melt Away” came out, I was surprised by the amount of fans and love I had received! It was simply a song that I wrote for fun. Gabriel Sarango, the producer, sent me this beat one day and I found it to be very “cute and cheesy” (in a good way!) so I played along with it and wrote to it. It’s a song that I think a lot of people can relate to —its innocence and playfulness. I’m hoping to release the music video sometime this summer.

LTM: Hopefully we can help out with that last bit! With so much on the threshold for you – graduating high school, heading to Kentucky for college – what keeps you moving forward with your music? A: It’s because of all the people I have touched through my voice and my music, and my love of music in general. That’s why I continue to sing and write songs. It’s a way of keep- ing me on my feet at all times. Music is universal, it’s what keeps us united in so many ways.

LTM: And your thoughts as you move into the next big stage in life? A: I’m still young and I have so much to learn. I have always stuck to these words…”Take advantage of all opportunities that come your way—for one opportunity can be the key to many more.” I believe life is full of wonderful opportunities…it’s up to you to grasp them and make the most out of them!
