Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa – Carleton (TROtt)

The TROtt Board is grateful for the support ONTRA has offered us with this generous grant. It has been very encour- aging for everyone. Thank you! These purchases will positively impact the participants at our centre in the following ways:

One of our goals at TROtt is to increase capacity. In the past we have been prevented from accomplishing this goal due to the lack of certified instruc- tors for Therapeutic Riding in our area. This grant has permitted us to assist two instructors in gaining certification. The result is twofold. Firstly, the cost of gaining certification is substantial. These instructors are part time and do not have

the extra finances available to pursue cer- tification. So this grant has helped in this regard. Secondly, TROtt applied for this grant specifically to confirm our support for their continued development as Instructors and TROtt’s dedication and interest in their futures as therapeutic rid- ing instructors.

The pony, Shadox is a valuable asset to TROtt. He had been leased for several years and when his owner died her estate offered him for sale. We did not have the available finances to pur- chase him. This grant has allowed us to retain a pony that has, and will continue to impact the lives of many riders at TROtt in a very positive way.
