Study on Equestrian Sport and Athlete Development

Ottawa - April 12, 2011 - A group of researchers from the University of Ottawa are working in partnership with former Equine Canada Manager of Coaching Isabelle Aubé to better understand factors affecting equestrian athletes. In particular, the group is looking at how personality factors, environmental factors and coach- ing factors all work together to help create performing athletes and individuals. The group has prepared the first of three ques- tionnaires and are asking for participation from the equestrian public in order to gather data essen- tial to the success of the study. “It’s not often that we are given the opportunity to improve our sport, let alone our industry. Participating in this survey will give us a better picture of what needs to be improved, what needs to be reproduced or emphasized, and how we can do that. Gathering information from com- petitive and recreational equestrians across Canada is crucial to this study’s success,” explained Aubé. Only the principal investi- gator and co-investigators have access to the secured website. The results obtained from this project are for research purpos- es only. These results will be
