Please accept our apologies We have a couple of apologies to make this week.
Te first goes out to the family of Danielle Melrose, the Arden teen who died Oct. 19 in a car accident on Oct. 19. In the article’s fifth paragraph, we incorrectly stated
Melrose was driving the car after previously naming her as the passenger. Weaverville resident Jonathan Mayfield was the driver, and Melrose was the passenger in the fatal accident. Another apology needs to go out to the Weaverville
Clint Parker
Police Department and the sponsors of the “Cops for Kids Bike Run.” In a recent advertisement where the organizers thanked the community and sponsors for their support, there were some grammatical and spell- ing mistakes. Organizer Andy Mace gave us clean copy that had no
mistakes, but when it was transferred to the computer, mistakes were made and were not corrected. Mace and the sponsors work hard every year to produce a success- ful toy drive for the children of the area. Teir work is a model for other communities. We will run a corrected version of the ad in next
week’s paper. As I found out a long time ago in the newspaper
business, you can do a lot of things to correct your er- rors before the paper goes to print, but not anything after except to apologize. On a different note, we must also apologize for not
doing our due diligence to get the information we were promised by the Weaverville ABC Board on a more de- tailed accounting of the store’s finances. Earlier this year, board members asked to put all our
requests for information in writing. Yet our requests still have not been granted. We’ll see if we can get that information for a story or if the board will continue to stonewall our efforts.

Correction In the Vol. 8, No. 42 issue of the Tribune, in the fifth paragraph of the story about the one-car fatal accident
Oct. 19 on New Stock Road, we mistakenly identified the late Danielle Jackie Melrose as the driver of the vehicle after previously naming her as the passenger. Jonathan Lance Mayfield was the driver. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
