Evelyn Farmer Asheville - Evelyn Farmer, age
91, of 105 Bull Mountain Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010. Mrs. Farmer was born Feb. 3,
1919, in Lathrop, Calif., and was a resident of Buncombe County for the past 47 years. She was an avid reader and crocheter. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother and grand- mother, with a great sense of hu- mor. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Costa. Surviving are her husband of 62

Thelma S. Sprouse Weaverville - Telma S. Sprouse,
age 83, formerly of Sprouse Town Road, died Tursday, Oct. 21, 2010. Mrs. Sprouse was born June 25,
1927, in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was a member of Red Oak Church of Christ. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Acie Davis Sprouse. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her hus- band, Luther Daniel Sprouse who died in 1974; and brothers, Claude, Homer, Walter, Troy, Phil, How- ard, and Ralph. Surviving are her daughters, Mar- tha Ann Reeves and friend Frank
Gentry, and Dianne Rice and hus- band Earl, all of Weaverville; son, Roger Sprouse and wife Dale of El- berton, Ga.; brother, Ray Sprouse and wife Carolyn of Weaverville; grandchildren, Julie Newman, Tim Rice, DeWayne and Steven Reeves; great grandchildren, Austin, Miles and Weston Reeves, Joshua and Andrew Newman, Kylie and Car- son Rice. Kathryn Penland Weaver, age 80, of Mt. Pleasant, NC, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010. Mrs. Weaver was born Dec. 15,
1929, in Buncombe County. She was a graduate of Lee Edwards High School and attended Bre- vard College. She and her husband owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Weaverville. She then worked with Revco Pharmacy, now CVS, for over 20 years. Mrs. Weaver was the daughter of
the late Elwin M. and Maude Rob- inson Penland. Her husband John G. Weaver died in 2000. Surviving are her daughter,
Kathryn Ann Tomsick and hus- band Marshall of Mt. Pleasant; son, Greg Weaver and wife Brenda of Charlotte; sister-in-law Elizabeth Penland; three grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Her graveside service was held
at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, in West Memorial Park, Weaverville, with the Rev. Bill Pon- der officiating. Flowers were acceptable and ap-

two sisters, Ethie
Belle Rathbone and Ethel Biggs; three brothers, Gilbert, Eugene and Howard Stines. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Korea, re- tired with General Motors and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his sister-in-law,
Ruth Stines and several nieces and nephews.
