MAJOR GENERAL RONALD L. BAILEY Commanding General, Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Western Recruiting Region


Major General Bailey assumed his duties on August 28, 2009. Over his 30-year plus year career, he has served as a weapons company commander, department chief, Professional Military Education, a plans officer, J-5, Headquarters U.S. European Command, and a ground lieutenant colonels moni- tor. From 2004 to 2005 he was assigned as a national fellow at the Council on Foreign Rela-


tions. In July 2005, he was assigned as the director, Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia. He assumed his duties as deputy director for Operations, J-3 Joint Staff in May 2006. The following year, he assumed command of the 3d Marine Expedi- tionary Brigade. He graduated from Austin Peay State University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. On July 1st of the same year, he was commissioned a second lieutenant. Maj. Gen. Bailey holds two masters degrees in business management and administration and in national security strategy.


BRIGADIER GENERAL CRAIG C. CRENSHAW Commanding General, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan


Colonel Crenshaw was promoted brigadier general July 29, 2010 at Camp Kinser, a United States Marine Corps base in Okinawa, Japan. Commissioned into the Marines in 1984, through the NROTC Scholarship Program, Brig. Gen. Crenshaw began his career with the 3rd Force Service Support Group, in Okinawa, Japan—now the 3d Marine Logistics Group. Since then, he has served in a variety of roles as logistics officer including Marine Corps integrated logistics support manager and group logistics officer, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan. Upon gradu- ation from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Brig. Gen. Crenshaw was assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency as an executive agent to the Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In 2002, he was assigned to the 2nd Force Service Support Group, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he assumed command of Headquarters and Service Battalion and deployed in support of operation Iraqi Freedom. After graduat- ing from the National Defense University, he was assigned as division chief, Joint Logistics Operations Center. In 2007 he was assigned to Headquarters Marine Corps Installations and Logis- tics as special assistance to Assistant Deputy Commandant, I&L, Logistics Facilities for Defense Policy Review Initiatives. Brig. Gen. Crenshaw assumed command of Combat Logistics Regiment 25, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force in 2008. The brigadier general attributes a lot of his success to his mentors and the opportunities the Marine Corps presents, he said on his appointment in July.

LIEUTENANT GENERAL WALTER E. GASKIN, SR. Deputy Chairman, NATO Military Committee, Brussels, Belgium


Lieutenant General Gaskin is the fourth African Ameri- can in Marine Corps history to achieve three-star grade. He assumed his current duties on March 22, 2010. Lt. Gen. Gaskin served as commanding general of the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, from June 2006 until July 2008. In addition to this role, he simultaneously served as the commanding general of II Marine Expedition- ary Force (Forward). During this tour, Lt. Gen. Gaskin led II MEF (FWD), during its year-long deployment to the larg- est province in Iraq, as commanding general of the 35,000 member Multinational Forces-West. His previous assign- ments as a general officer include service as vice director of The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. from July 2008 until May 2009, and as commanding general of Marine Corps Recruiting Command in Quantico, VA, beginning in Sep- tember 2002. Additionally, he served as the chief of staff, Naval Striking and Support Forces-Southern Europe and as deputy commanding general, Fleet Marine Forces-Europe in Naples, Italy from 2002 to 2004. A 1974 graduate from Savannah State University’s NROTC Program with a Bach- elor of Science, he also earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Oklahoma in 1992.
