Cambridge University’s new £16 million develop- ment, known as The Hauser Forum, incorporates a stunning Solar Shading system from Levolux. The Hauser Forum expands Cambridge University’s science and technology campus, pro- viding more than 7400m2
of mixed use office space,
along with a glazed cafe and a central atrium. Working closely with the architect, Levolux devel- oped a comprehensive external Solar Shading solu-
tion, comprising fixed Aerofoil Fins, Walk-on Brise Soleil and a Ventilation Louvre system. This makes a critical contribution to the sustainability of the overall scheme, by preventing excessive solar heat gain.

Responding to the increasing need for people and property to be protected against criminal inten- tions and terrorism, Schueco has developed a spe- cialist range of aluminium blast- and bullet-resist- ant windows, doors and façades. Designated 'Enhanced', these products are virtually indistin- guishable from conventional Schueco systems, allowing architects and specifiers to achieve the highest technical specifications for security
without having to compromise the integrity of their designs. The Enhanced range includes systems that are both bullet-resistant and blast-resistant. In addition, Schueco has windows and façades that meet MOD specification guidelines for buildings subject to terrorist threat.

Thames Clippers run a ferry service to Canary Wharf, popular with both commuters and sight- seers due to it’s location on the Isle of Dogs - being surrounded by water on three sides. The floating pontoon - the link between the Thames Clippers and dry land needs to be both waterproof and able to withstand heavy traffic. By 2010, years of wet conditions and millions of passers by had meant that the pontoon was suffering causing possible
trip hazards. A combination of Ronacrete products were specified to construct a new surface to the pontoon. Working closely with the main contractors and engineers Ronacrete compiled a specific material application to provide strength and durability to the to the surface.

Stirling Lloyd’s Decseal waterproofing & wearing course systems have recently been used on Coventry University’s new MSCP. To make the car park user-friendly each of the eight decks were coated a different colour. For the exposed decks and ramps the full Decseal system, comprising a primer, sprayed waterproof- ing and coloured wearing course, was used. The lower levels were treated with just the primer
and wearing course. Selected for its durability and rapid application, the Decseal system has helped provide a well protected, aesthetically pleasing car park.

SUCCESSFUL FIRST INSTALLATION FOR BRETT LANDSCAPING X-FLOW
The first project using a new X-Flow high void area block paving has been has secured by Brett Landscaping. X-Flow has been installed on a car park at the Bradley Playing Fields state-of-the-art football Development in Grimsby. X- Flow offers discrete protection of grassed areas in moderately trafficked areas as well as areas in which enhanced water penetration rates are required. The high void area allows for growth of vegetation between the blocks and provides enhanced strength and ease of installation compared with other grass protec- tion systems. The high void area of the pavement can be used to provide an exceptionally high permeability level for use within a sustainable drainage system. X-Flow is available in two standard colours, Natural and Brown, but other colours are available made-to-order. t 01227 829000
