Moving Zones?

The governor of Krasnodar region in Russia is proposing to move the Azov City gaming zone to Anapa city (also in the same region, on the coast of black sea, but a very popular tourist destination for Russians). He wrote to the Russian President a fews weeks ago, saying that it makes little sense to have gaming zone where it is at the moment, since its so far located from any populated areas, it does not attract players nor investors.

The President has requested the government to study this proposal.

A member of the United Russia party (ruling party) Gleb Hob (also has a position in the Duma committee for budget and taxes) has commented: “So far since the law has come into force, it has become apparent that nobody wants to go these

zones. In Azov City there is not enough infrastructure. However, in Anapa, there is a modern airport, beaches and tourists. Gleb Hob has submitted into the Government Duma his own revisions into the law governing the gambling industry and proposes to exclude the Rostov Oblast from the list of territories where gaming can take place. Also, to remove from the current law, a clause which forbids to close down a gaming zone before 10 years have passed after its creation . The revisions

are already approved by the Economic policies & Entrepreneurship committee of Government Duma.

The government officials of the Rostov Oblast have said that they have not received any officials documents yet, but are aware of the letter.
