POWDERHAM Castle in Devon is the venue for a perfect combination of country attractions and demonstrations being held at The South Western Game & Country Fair. The fair is the largest event of its type held in the South West and is a two-day extravaganza of country entertainment, country sports, arena attractions and demonstrations, endless shopping and regional specialist foods.

The most well known names from Angling, gun dog and clay shooting join Mounted Games and scurry driving to provide top country sports events. Over 80 of the world’s rarest Birds of Prey come together in a unique falconry village and demonstration arena. There are gundog scurries and clinics (for beginners and experts alike) - including one especially for children, traditional archery and many ‘have-a-go’ country attractions are also featured.


The ‘Food Glorious Food’ arena and country kitchen offer visitors the chance to taste and buy many different types of local and regional specialist foods. Local restaurants and regional food groups are taking part. The country kitchen chef theatre has all day cookery demonstrations by Game to eat chef Tony Robertson, who will be supported over the weekend with regional chef and wine tasting experts.


Organisers Living Heritage has included lots for children to do. Amusements, puppet shows, face painting and the opportunity to learn how to fish with the Angling Trust, fly a hawk in the falconry village or handle a gundog in the gundog clinic. Last but not least there are lots of fun dog competitions for the family - so don’t leave him at home.


With over 100 specialist country shopping stalls as well as the themed village stalls to browse and superb food to eat - all day - a trip to the South Western Game and Country Fair will entertain families and experts alike.
