Welcome to our August edition. WHAT ? When does summer start? Looking on the bright side, before the nights really start drawing in, we can no doubt look forward to a fabulous Indian summer, just like they have on the Costa Del Sol. Talking about Spain, congratulations for their terrific World Cup success, and then Nadal goes and wins Wimbledon. Then, still reflecting on July, we have South Africa, and again congratulations on a brilliant World Cup Tournament. Then one of their golfers goes and wins The Open Golf Championship at St Andrews. What’s going on? Congratulations to Fabio Capelli, our Italian England manager, on securing a multimillion pound deal for himself with the F.A. ?????? We couldn’t just forget about the England performance without passing on a few comments from emails we have received. See page 17. We also have a few incredible articles, like the once in a lifetime chance to spot a real Martian as Mars and Earth come within spitting distance of each other on 27th August. See page 7. Page 23 highlights some businesses on Plumbe Street and we have a look round Colne Road on page 16. This month we introduce yet another member of staff. Welcome to Gary Kay who will be looking after our new Pubs and Clubs pages so we can give you more information as to what’s on. We also have all the usual educational and literary delights along with silly stuff. Enjoy.
LOOKING FOR A NURSERY PLACE? Padiwacks provides excellent childcare and our nursery has been expanded. We provide FREE government childcare places for three year olds (15 hours per week term time).
