Equine Canada Announces Two New Additions to its National Office
Ottawa, Ontario—Equine Cana- da is pleased to introduce two new faces to the equine commu- nity.
With the recent departure of program coordinator—dressage, Peggy Olivier, to maternity leave, Equine Canada is pleased to announce the hiring of Kari MacGregor to fill the position. With a passion for dressage, MacGregor has an extensive knowledge of the sport in Cana- da. Starting immediately, Mac- Gregor can be reached at kari-
macgregor@equinecanada.ca. Although their names are remarkably similar, Kari Mac- Gregor is not to be confused with Equine Canada’s 2010 World Equestrian Games Cana- dian Equestrian Team Leader, Canadian Olympic Committee Session member for Equestrian and chair of Sport Council, Kerri McGregor.
“Imagine my surprise when I received Kari’s resume,” noted Equine Canada’s director of sport, Craig Andreas. “Kerri McGregor and I both thought it was quite a coincidence but I can assure everyone that Kerri and Kari are definitely two different people.”
“I am very excited for the opportunity to work for Equine Canada within the Dressage department. I thrilled to be working in Dres- sage, as I train and compete in the dressage discipline,” said MacGregor, a recent graduate of the University of Guelph where she majored in Tourism
Management. “This position will be a great leaning opportunity, and will expand my knowledge of the equestrian disciplines. I look forward to working with the many staff members, volun- teers, competitors and horse enthusiasts while at Equine Canada.”
Ashley Raaymakers has been hired as program support for both the jumping and para- equestrian disciplines. With her experience working at Sport Canada and her passion for sport, Raaymakers has quickly made an impact at Equine Cana- da. Raaymakers’ employment at Equine Canada has been made possible through the Own the Podium program, a national sport technical initiative designed to help Canada’s sum- mer and winter athletes achieve podium success at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Raay- makers can be reached at araay-
makers@equinecanada.ca. “Working at Equine Canada will not only provide me with
the opportunity to work with some of Canada’s most celebrat- ed athletes, but it will also allow me to learn more about equestri- an sport,” said Raaymakers, who graduated from Queens Univer- sity with a bachelor of com- merce.
“I am pleased to welcome Kari MacGregor and Ashley Raaymakers to the team,” added Andreas. “With as many impor- tant initiatives in Equine Cana- da’s sport programs leading up to the 2010 World Equestrian Games, we were fortunate to find two people who could jump right in and contribute immedi- ately.”
Please join Equine Canada in welcoming the new staff to the Equine Canada office team. Equine Canada wishes them all the best in each of their respec- tive positions.
