DRIVER PROFILES #99 Derek White
HOMETOWN: Kahnawake, Quebec // BIRTH DATE: December 9, 1970 SPONSOR(S) / MAKE: OCR Gaz Bar / Snakes Poker / ODT / Gamebusters / MJ Convenience Chevrolet Impala SS
NOTABLE: A former ice racer and drag racer, White is plan- ning to participate in all 13 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series races in 2010. His goal is to start and finish every race, with a few top-10 results thrown in along the way.
QUOTABLE: “We have four cars ready to go; two are mine and we have two for rent if people want to get involved in the series. I did just five races last season to protect my rookie status for 2010. I enjoy the NASCAR series, but after all the drag racing I’ve done, getting used to the turns is the hard part. I like the adrenaline rush of drag racing, but this type of racing offers a much longer rush.”
Other Notable Racers...
CAITLIN JOHNSTON (NO. 01 PIZZA PIZZA DODGE): Open-wheel racer made her NASCAR Canadian Tire Series debut at Mosport International Raceway in June. With cars prepared by DJK Racing and pit calls by crew chief Derek Lynch, this Orangeville, Ontario driver could get up to speed quickly.
JEAN-FRANCOIS DUMOULIN (NO. 07 DODGE) & LOUIS-PHILIPPE DUMOULIN (NO. 47 DODGE): These brothers from Trois-Rivieres, Quebec are expected to be in the field for Canadian Tire Series races in La Belle Province.
TODD NICHOL (NO. 6 NORTON / 3M CHEVROLET): Hailing from St. Albert, Alberta, this veteran racer is a fan favourite when the series races in Western Canada.
BRAD GRAHAM (NO. 19 DODGE): Graham is a veteran racer who has proven he has what it takes to compete against Canada’s top stock car drivers. What he doesn’t have, however, it the sponsorship needed to jumpstart his season. Hope- fully the Glencoe, Ontario resident is back on track in short order.
PETER KLUTT (NO. 42 LEGENDARY MOTORCAR CHEVROLET) & GARY KLUTT (NO. 68 LEGENDARY MOTORCAR CHEVROLET): This father-and-son duo, from Halton Hills, Ontario, was in the field at Mosport in June.
