DRIVER PROFILES #56 Howie Scannell Jr.

HOMETOWN: Milton, Ontario // BIRTH DATE: January 13, 1966 // SPONSOR(S) / MAKE: Lucas Oil / RC Trailers / B&B Decals / Bray Auto-Truck Centre / Stratafax / K&B Auto / Trailers by Jim Bray Dodge Avenger

NOTABLE: Born into a racing family, Scannell has raced Late Models throughout Southern Ontario and was the Rookie of the Year in the Players / GM Motorsports Series in 1989. Ran the CASCAR Super Series from 1990 through 2004. Finished ninth on the Mosport road course last year. Purchased this year’s mount from former series racer Kent Nuhn and will equip it with the optional ‘spec’ motor. This season will be a joint effort between the Scannell Team and legendary Cana- dian motorsports figure Jim Bray.

QUOTABLE: “We plan to do the four eastern road courses, and will try to wrap up the season at Riverside and Kawartha Speedways. Once we get the car sorted out, we will have the equipment to consistently finish in the top-10”

#60 Ron Beauchamp Jr.

HOMETOWN: Windsor, Ontario // BIRTH DATE: August 7, 1968 // SPONSOR(S) / MAKE: MOPAR / Mobil 1 / Exide Dodge Avenger

NOTABLE: Ron Jr. hit his stride late in 2008 and has been fly- ing ever since (thanks to a new Crew Chief). The MOPAR- backed racer earned two pole positions in 2009 (Vernon, BC & Kawartha). Didn’t win a race, but claimed eight top-five re- sults and11 top-10s, with an average finishing position of 5.6 (compared to the 4 scored by champion Andrew Ranger). Finished tied in points with DJ Kennington but was credited with third-place due to a lack of victories.

QUOTABLE: “We want to repeat what we did last year, but put a ‘W’ on our record. We came close last year. Everything is in place; we have two cars that were new last year ready to go, all we need a little luck on our side. Whoever can go without any mechanical problems will take this.”

#66 Robin Buck

HOMETOWN: Campbellville, Ontario // BIRTH DATE: December 10, 1959 SPONSOR(S) / MAKE: Durabody / Active Green+Ross Ford Fusion

NOTABLE: A road racer originally, Buck switched to stock cars in the mid-1990s. He enjoyed success in the CASCAR Super Series, with wins in Toronto and Vancouver. Robin will race a limited schedule this year, focusing on road races. His car is prepared by Peter Klutt at Legendary Motor Cars in Milton, Ontario.

QUOTABLE: “Stock cars were where the money was when I switched from road racing, and with NASCAR coming on board – and their brand name – it makes it easier to attract interest. We will only do a partial schedule this year, but we will able to hold our own once we get the car working just right.”
